Skincare Ingredient Glossary
A plain-language guide to the key active ingredients used in Elevation Beauty products, written for anyone building a skincare routine in Pakistan's climate.
Ascorbyl Glucoside
Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stabilized, water-soluble form of Vitamin C. It converts to pure Vitamin C once absorbed into skin, and is significantly gentler than L-ascorbic acid, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Used in the Elevation Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Serum to brighten dullness and fade dark spots.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring molecule that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. In skincare it draws moisture into the skin and plumps the surface, reducing the look of fine lines caused by dehydration.
Retinol
Retinol is a form of Vitamin A and one of the most researched anti-aging ingredients in skincare. It speeds up skin cell turnover, which softens fine lines, improves texture, and fades hyperpigmentation over time. It should be used at night, introduced gradually, and always paired with daily SPF.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, helps calm inflammation, regulate oil production, and strengthen the skin barrier. It is commonly used alongside acne treatments to reduce redness without over-drying skin.
Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide
Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are mineral (physical) sunscreen filters that sit on top of the skin and reflect UVA and UVB rays, rather than absorbing them. They are generally well tolerated by sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is a soothing botanical extract used to calm irritation and support the skin barrier, commonly included in gentle cleansers for sensitive or reactive skin.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil closely resembles skin's natural sebum, so it absorbs quickly without feeling greasy and helps maintain the skin's moisture barrier.
Shea Butter
Shea Butter is a rich, fatty-acid dense emollient that softens and hydrates delicate skin, commonly used in eye creams for the thin under-eye area.
